Visiting with Dad and going to the casino. Lisa is making good money at the casino. Dad is losing and I’m holding my own. Well today we broke even. That’s a win-win.

Lily’s Lagniappe: Tucson is extremely hot this year. Temps are definitely higher this year. Stay cool Arizona.

Still heading to Tucson however today we spent the night in Abilene, Texas and now headed for Las Cruces, NM. We arrived in Las Cruces around 2:00 so we decided to go on into Tucson.

Lily’s Lagniappe: Very hot in Tucson, 111 degrees but because of no humidity to speak of it feels like the upper eighties.

Heading out to Tucson with Lisa. Driving Dad’s car to him in Arizona. Today rain and road work, so frustrating.

Lily’s Lagniappe: Dear God, no one goes anywhere on Interstate 20 in a timely fashion.

Yesterday at the University of Florida Phillips Center we watched my nephew become Dr. Chance Stutesman, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He will begin work after he passes his State Boards in North Carolina. It was a great ceremony.  The next morning we get up and were going to travel home when we received a phone call from my brother-in-law that Interstate 95 was down to one lane and a 4 to 5 hour back up. So we found an alternate route through the countryside of South Carolina. I guess I would have enjoyed it if I wasn’t looking for water on the roadway or flooding. We traveled a way folks used to go to the coast before interstates; boy were we troopers.

Lily’s Lagniappe: Tropical Storm Bonnie savaged the South Carolina coast with some surfs and water. Stay safe SC peeps!

Dad is here in Hickory with us. Great time with him because soon we will leave for Gainesville, Florida. Tell you about that later. Watching interaction between people today taking notes. Great research. Moms and daughters, Dads and sons, siblings with each other. Stocking away notes and memories when I need to use them in a manuscript.

Lily’s Lagniappe: LSU Softball and LSU Baseball both doing well at the end of their seasons. GEAUX TIGERS!!!

Came back from Gatlinburg today. Great writers retreat. Worked on two picture books and one YA novel. Continuing to revise YA novel and revising the two picture books.

Lily’s Lagniappe: LSU Softball going to James Madison University for Super regional this weekend. LSU Baseball going to SEC tourney in Hoover, AL. GEAUX TIGERS!! Our dear tiger mascot has been diagnosed with a rare cancer in his face near his nose. Without treatment he can live 1 to 2 months but with treatment possibly up to 2 years. Forever LSU! Please keep this bengal tiger in your prayers that he does not suffer at all and lives to a ripe old age.
