Well, the last day of 2015. Did I accomplish everything I wanted or needed this year? NO. Did I have success this year? YES. I loved my family the best I could, I tried make someone’s day at least once a week especially someone I don’t know, and I kept at my writing with some extra studies and groups I belonged too! At times I overwhelmed myself with too much but I got through it and I believe my writing has improved because of it. Hoping for many more areas of improvement for 2016.
Lily’s Lagniappe: I love this saying goodbye to one year and welcoming in a new year. My wish for all you is a happy and safe New Year!
Today was the first day in about two weeks when it didn’t rain. The temps are moderate so the wetness isn’t unbearable it is just depressing. However, pushing through the nastiness outside is a great way to make progress in my writing inside. Revising the GAMERS OF THE ROUND TABLE I find there were things that I had missed in the first revision. I also find I took too much out or needed better transitions. This novel writing is hard work.
Lily’s Lagniappe: LSU Tigers is taking on the Texas Tech Red Raiders tonight in Houston. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!
Finally ran off revision number one, now beginning round two. There needs to be concentration paid to the story line and the character of Austin. I need to make Austin more kid-like. Work on these aspects during this revision.
Lily’s Lagniappe: This winter the weather pattern has been violent. The mid-America and south has been wet with major thunderstorms and horrible tornadoes. Please stay safe.
This Christmas day was a quiet one! Watched some television and did some revision thinking about GAMERS OF THE ROUND TABLE and THE FREAK’S RAPE. Need to run off the revised one and begin round two of revisions.
Lily’s Lagniappe: On this Christmas Eve and Christmas Day several huge weather systems caused tornadoes in mid America and the south. Remember those less fortunate than you and those who really need help from time to time.
Finished putting revision one into computer. Now to print out the manuscript again for revision two. Hopefully I can get in at least four revisions before the end of the year. GAMERS OF THE ROUND TABLE maybe can go to agent in January.
Lily’s Lagniappe: This year our extended family grew by two. Both little girls, one named Bristol and the other named Molly. It’s renewing our belief in the good things about this life. To provide a safe place for these girls to grow up in is something we must achieve. To love another and our enemies, pray for all and hope for better days. My wish for you is faith, family, and forgiveness in abundance in this holiday season and throughout the coming year.
Finished putting all the changes into the manuscript not putting them into computer. THE GAMERS OF THE ROUND TABLE soon to be finished with revision one. Then beginning round two. This part of the process is time eating and at times painstaking.
Lily’s Lagniappe: Today would’ve been my parents’ 66th anniversary. They were in love through thick and thin years. The last ten years of my mom’s life was a delicate balance of diet, doctor’s visits and stays in the hospital. I wouldn’t have traded a moment of it.
Almost finished with the first revision of THE GAMERS OF THE ROUND TABLE. Once I put it into the computer then I will print out again and begin round two. Then after I get this MG into semi good shape then I will work on THE FREAK’S RAPE.
Lily’s Lagniappe: The weather is cold everywhere right now. In Louisiana it is a cold damp days. In North Carolina it is a drier cold but still dampish at times. Bundle up out there!! Don’t want to be sick for Christmas, New Year’s day or the beginning of the new year.
Halfway through the last month of 2015. WOW!! Where did the time go? Well wondering if there is anyone out there thinking that this year flew by. It did!! In my personal life I started the year at Disney World and ended the year with newly revised MG and YA novels. The SCBWI conferences all in May, July/August and September made impacts in my writing life. Hoping that 2016 leads to new discovery and new paths in my writing life.
Lily’s Lagniappe: THE CAJUN NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS by James Rice is a favorite this time of year. Pick up a copy at the library or make it part of your library. A great read.
The revision process for GAMERS OF THE ROUND TABLE has begun. I’m cutting words to get more quickly into the adventure. The agent told me that I needed to get to the story quicker. I read a lot of the Magic Treehouse series so I could understand. I think I am beginning to see that happen with my own piece. I am trying to get this one done because it is shorter that THE FREAK’S RAPE. That YA will take a major rewrite. So working on this MG will help me understand the rewrite/revision process.
Lily’s Lagniappe: This time of year in most areas have colder temperatures and possibly even snow. In southern Louisiana a cold Christmas is hoped for or at least a cooler one. I remember at times we were able to swim on Christmas. It is not the weather that determines how we celebrate the Savior’s birth. As Christians we should celebrate that God sent his son to die for our sins.
Working on revising GAMERS OF THE ROUND TABLE. Trying to shorten and get the reader more engaged. I’m attempting to make my MC more kid-like and mischievous. Austin actually has a name the dates back to the period I’m writing about. Hopefully I can get this done pretty quickly. Then onto THE FREAK’S RAPE.
Lily’s Lagniappe: The towers are being built on the levee. On December 24th the wood skyscrapers will be set on fire. Take your family before the sunsets to see the hard work of building these artworks. Then once the sun goes down the inferno begins.
