Reading the Magic Treehouse series, as per the agent from the SCBWI Carolinas conference. Thoroughly enjoyed these but my book is longer and more involved than these young kids in the series. I hope that I can engage young readers more with a more detailed beginning without using dialogue. Need to work diligently on this before the editor’s critique comes back for FREAK’S RAPE. I really hope she offers great constructive criticism for Cammie’s dilemma.

Austin’s dilemma is different but also angst driven. A younger main character has different types of problems that a high school senior but still causes stress.

Lily’s Lagniappe: Visited with family in Baton Rouge and enjoyed the visit. Went to Goodwood Hardware a favorite of mine in Baton Rouge. Hope the Tigers win tomorrow against South Carolina.

Starting the day with looking over several picture book manuscripts and wondering if any of them will ever make it into book form. I have confidence that it will.  Evaluating at least two manuscripts that maybe I can make them into book apps or ebooks. This is way to make a little money during the year. I sent money to the freelance editor yesterday because on October 18 I need to send to her the complete manuscript.

Lily’s Lagniappe: South Carolina is under water because of a horrible week with record rainfall. LSU plays South Carolina this weekend and the game just may change to Tiger Stadium or Charlotte. No decision at this time. GEAUX TIGERS!!!

Back at home in Hickory after a treat in Baton Rouge watching a LSU football game in Death Valley. But it is amazing the way the human mind works. I visited with family and stayed in a real nice hotel where they don’t bother you except once a week. Heaven. But my mind was writing…you know that thinking about things you need to do or things you want to with your writing. I advanced several new ideas for middle grade novels with my middle grade hero Austin James. Unique look at WWI and WWII, or at least I hope so. Looking for something to do with tunnels. I will find it but for now I am on the hunt.

Lily’s Lagniappe: Well, Saturday night in Tiger Stadium did not disappoint. We ran over East Michigan but not without knowing they were on the field of play. Shouldn’t have blown them out but they made their university and fans proud. But the Tigers did win 44 to 22.

Well today is Saturday and there is a huge Picture Book Summit online today. Unfortunately, I can’t watch today but I can watch the play back. Notable authors, illustrators and unique bloggers in the children’s writing industry are giving their knowledge today for pre-published and published authors.

Still working on revising GAMERS OF THE ROUND TABLE, reading the Magic Tree series. I realize there are a few books about Merlin bringing the two kids to help out. I have Austin being brought by Merlin to teach Sir Lancelot a lesson. Even knights need to learn new things. I need to have another couple of ideas about Austin helping other knights to have new adventures. There are other knights that are part of the Round Table.

Lily’s Lagniappe: Well today the LSU TIGERS play Eastern Michigan in Tiger Stadium and I will be  there. My first game this year and it just might be my only game.  Need a sweater today because it is going to be on the cool side in Tiger Stadium. What cool in Tiger Stadium? It could be chilly after the sun goes down. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!

It is October. Can you believe it, October! This is going to be a busy month. Hiring a freelance editor to edit THE FREAK’S RAPE. Sending in FLIES IN THE OUTFIELD another publisher. I think it will be Penguin Group. Thinking about it anyway. Revising GAMERS OF THE ROUND TABLE as per Miriam’s instructions. This is the beginning of a new phase in my writing life. At least I hope it is.

Lily’s Lagniappe: Had a memory moment earlier today. I ate at Piccadilly Cafeteria. I was raised on Piccadilly. My mom was a teacher and those days when things were tough, we all went to Piccadilly to eat. Their catfish is the best. I had black eyed peas, catfish and macaroni and cheese. Well, for this adult the mac and cheese was too salty but the black eyed peas was great and the catfish was just as good as Goldilocks’ porridge.
