Working on the revision of GAMERS OF THE ROUND TABLE for Miriam Altshuler. I also am reading books in the Magic Tree House Series. Mary Pope Osbourne is a very lucky writer to have thought of this idea and execute it. I only hope that I have a half the success she had. I will work on revision as I head to Louisiana.
Lily’s Lagniappe: Heading to LSU Tigers football game this weekend and it seems that Saturday may be the first day with no chance of rain that week. Sunday looks good also. GEAUX TIGERS!!
After a stellar review from Miriam Altshuler, I have work to do. She was so kind about my manuscript. It is not perfect but it is fixable. She encouraged me to fix it and send it back to her. She liked my idea. She thought it would lend itself to a series. Now the hard work begins to bring Austin out and get to the adventure quicker. I’m so glad to work on this.
Lily’s Lagniappe: The LSU Tigers play in Tiger Stadium on Saturday night. My sister gave me tickets for Saturday night. so excited to go and see my Tigers.
Our SCBWI Conference begins today. There is such excitement about the faculty and the opportunities to our members is off the charts. The two leaders, Teresa Fannin and Bonnie Adamson, have done another outstanding job securing fabulous faculty. The hotel is always cold but everyone has been told to layer. Each and every presenter is ready and excited to get started. I know this conference will be a difference maker for some and hopefully all will learn and connect with each other.
Lily’s Lagniappe: Well, during the weekend the Saints are coming into Charlotte to play the Panthers. Who Dat nation is coming to town. They will be loud and proud.
Worked on conference things today. Got my hair fixed, ran an errand to the bank for dad and then thought about things for the conference. Checking the mail today and then headed to Charlotte. Hoping for good crafts and networking at the conference. Hoping for a decent manuscript review. Wishing that my idea for the ebooks/book apps becomes a reality. I’ve got one very close to be ready to illustrate and put into Amazon.
Lily’s Lagniappe: There’s a slight coolness to the morning air. Even in the stinky south, it seems fall is beginning to effect the weather. It is finally cooling to comfortable 80 degrees. Football weather in Baton Rouge. What really helps is the humidity is lower. The LSU Tigers travel to Syracuse this weekend. Playing in a dome! GEAUX TIGERS!
Working on a new series idea on a trial basis. Don’t know if this would fly with any magazine or publisher. Thought I would give it a try. I’m sure that the idea has occurred to another but I have never seen it. I also have not read every magazine for children and teens but I haven’t heard anyone talk about being done. Oh well, can only improve my craft.
Lily’s Lagniappe: Well, on Saturday night the LSU Tigers beat the Auburn Tigers in Death Valley. The score was 45-21. I was angry that we allowed Auburn to score 21 points, but we were playing freshman against 3 and 4 year players. Next weekend we play Syracuse at the Carrier Dome. GEAUX TIGERS!!!
Continuing to work on the Swamp Tales for ebooks. I have decided on my author name for these swamp tales. I really need to do some research on the sightings and folklore. Revised the first WIP for the series. I need to decide whether it is going to be a PB or CB. Haven’t decided on the format or the illustrations. I think there are websites that make the cost very economical. Still learning the process. Need to really work on the ebook or kindle series for Write for children. It also has a website section. Need before the end of the year to get Website up for both author names.
Lily’s Lagniappe: The LSU Tigers take to the field today in an afternoon game on CBS. Auburn Tigers are coming into Death Valley. GEAUX TIGERS!!
Today I wrote a new PB about some folklore out of the bayous of Louisiana. It needs a lot of work but it’s a start. I’m hoping to start a series but only time will tell whether I can pull that off. I need to research the folklore and read a lot of books already printed about these things and see if I can put a good spin on some of the creatures of the swamps and marshes.
Lily’s Lagniappe: Truly bizarre weather patterns in the US. The strong El Nino off the California coast may make the southwest wetter than its been in decades. The southeast although still warm not as hot as it usually is during this time of the year. It makes it great for LSU football games.
This day was not filled with much except thinking. I have ideas for a series of picture books or chapter books. It could be a hook for a series on Amazon. Then again it might be something that could bring in extra income. Been thinking about creating a PB pr CB series that are ebooks, hopefully I can get this done quickly.
Lily’s Lagniappe: The football season has finally started for the LSU Tigers. We went into a hostile environment and came out with a win. This weekend Auburn comes into Tiger Stadium. Hoping the LSU Tigers beats the Auburn Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
The research about Canadian French folklore has been very interesting but the stories are hard to find, I think that I am going to have to go to the Writers Center in the Quarter. I’m thinking some of the diaries may have some of the stories passed down orally from generation to generation. If nothing else more research is necessary.
Lily’s Lagniappe: The Tigers beat Mississippi State last night 21 to 19. Brandon Harris did better than most Tiger fans thought he was going to. He looked like a leader and involved in the game from beginning to end. Hopefully they will open the play book a bit more next week.
Tucson normally is sunny and hot but today it was overcast and a little humid. The morning starts here at 6:00 for breakfast, then onto our day at the business or at the casino. Writing is late a night and since I way up at 3:00 Tucson time I work for about two hours then go back to sleep for about thirty minutes and then begins our day. Doing research about Canadian French folklore. Interesting!
Lily’s Lagniappe: The college football season for LSU begins Saturday night in Starkville, MS. I hope the Tigers are ready.
