This last weekend I put together a package to send to an agent. She is part of an agency in NY but she lives in Nashville. Hopefully she will like my little middle grade novel. I am revising the package to send to her and making a line edit of the entire manuscript. Here’s hoping that by my little character Austin will be a little guy she likes.
Lily’s Lagniappe: Well, LSU is putting out hype videos and hoping the good news from the basketball team getting top athletes from Louisiana. Will be an interesting year for Tiger sports.
Just finished a query, synopsis and first five pages to go to an agent. Sent it to my critique group first. Hopefully I will get it back in a timely manner. I’m not sure I really want an agent but it seems the only way to get a book contract. Trying this and hopefully will get back a request for the full manuscript or a nice rejection.
Lily’s Lagniappe: This time of year in Louisiana the horrible thunderstorms come. So not only having to watch the patterns of hurricanes but must also keep an eye on the radar for active areas for thunderstorms. Stay safe!
Had a writer’s meeting today and discussed Sandra’s bomber book. Teresa wasn’t there due to an eye exam. I told the group that I was working on a query for SEARCH FOR THE PRINCESS. Agents at a particular agency looking for middle grade with a strong voice. Hopefully my middle grade is one of those. Still germinating a new idea and working on it to fill in the holes. It came to me riding home from Omaha, NE. I’m hoping to make it edgy with a good ending.
Lily’s Lagniappe: LSU Tigers did pretty well at the College World Series. Less than 75 days until LSU Football starts. Can’t wait!! Had a real personal issue recently when my online banking accounts were hacked. This was a scary and devastating, I wish it on no one. The hot days of July are closing in on us. Hope you find a way to stay cool!
Working on PB manuscript to publish on 12 X 12. It is a rhyming manuscript with only 316 words. I look forward to constructive criticism to make my manuscript better.
Lily’s Lagniappe: Our bank account was compromised and I spent most of the day closing and re-opening new accounts. Most disturbing! I don’t have much but what I have is mine! All mine! Someone just extracted $5000.00 from my account. Now I have to be inconvenienced to close all my accounts and open new ones.
Back home to Hickory. Hot, hot and humid. The weather this week is just more of the same. Picked up baby books and flipped through them so I would know what they have in them. Now need old pictures to put in them to make them keepsakes. Need to have some parts filled in and some parts left blank. I’ve decided the MC is to be a girl and she’s in the foster care system because searches for family were useless.
Lily’s Lagniappe: Well its 75 days until LSU’s football season kicks off. Yay!!
Heading home and wishing LSu had won but they made a good showing. We’re traveling back to St. Louis for the night.
Lily’s Lagniappe: Tigers headed home today but chartered plane. Now the young men who play in the Chatham leagues on the Northeast coast or the Great Trees league on the Northwest coast can go and play baseball for the summer.
The skies of Omaha were rumbling with thunderstorms and lightning in the area. The games were delayed by two hours. LSU won yesterday and will play again tomorrow. Still generating the germ of a new middle grade novel.
Lily’s Lagniappe: My sister and I would go to stand in line for tickets and then return later in the day for the game. Tickets very reasonable that way.
The Tigers lost yesterday and will play again tomorrow. Beginning to generate a new middle grade novel in my mind. I going to start with a baby book. Now how to use it? As a keepsake, as a guide, as the only connection to the past, as a guide for their life, as a map to the past and any family left? All good questions but which way to approach the new main character, is she alone? Has she been kidnapped? Need answers!!
Lily’s Lagniappe: We went to Famous Dave’s BBQ, the store manager is from Louisiana and gave us a free bread pudding.
Well, in Omaha and setting up the RV. The KOA camp is nice but could be much better. We will be okay but it is very cramped. LSU plays tomorrow at 2:00 in the afternoon. We have tickets in the upper most section of the stadium. The seats were GREAT!!
I watched a family bring an infant about 6 to 8 months old to the stadium. It was very warm that day. In my opinion too warm for the baby. He was fussy. I also didn’t see her give him fluids. Just an old worry wart about young mothers who really don’t get it. Oh, well!
Lily’s Lagniappe: It is so heart warming to be welcomed to Omaha by folks who live there. They are very excited when LSU goes to Omaha because the LSU people travel to support their team. Hotels, restaurants, casinos and other businesses are excited about the Louisiana folks being there.
Well, revised the rhyming manuscript and sending it to my critique group today. Hopefully they will think I’ve improved it some. It still needs more work but I worked on improving the rhythm.
Lily’s Lagniappe: Heading tomorrow to Omaha, NE. The LSU Tiger Baseball team plays TCU at 3:00 (2:00 Central) on Sunday, June 14th. Lisa and I are headed in her She-Kamper to the game. Hopefully we will be in Omaha for awhile. The longer we are there means the Tigers are winning. GEAUX TIGERS!!!
