Still working on PB manuscripts and the time is getting nigh for hearing from the publisher I sent to in March. The middle of June is the time when they should either ask for the entire script or tell me it is not something they want to have on their list. I have revised two PB manuscripts for the 12 X 12 forum. I hope to get to one of them before the 31st.  I also am reading a middle grade that I really can’t get into and I am page 61.

Lily’s Lagniappe: This weekend LSU Softball girls play in Round One of the College World Series for Softball in Oklahoma City, OK. We play Auburn. It is time for a little payback. Dish it Girls!!! The weekend also begins the Baseball playoffs. This weekend LSU Tigers host a regional at the new Alex Box. The teams coming to Baton Rouge are Lehigh, UNC Wilmington, and Tulane. GEAUX TIGERS!! Let’s win it!

Today is Memorial Day. We honor those fallen heroes that have given all they had to give. The sacrifice they made so I could live and breathe freedom from sea to shining sea is humbling. All gave some, some gave all are lyrics from a Billy Ray Cyrus song and it is so appropriate for today. For all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, I honor you and I will never forget.

Writing today trying to further get a PB manuscript ready to post on 12 X 12. Hope everyone has a quiet respectful day to our fallen heroes.

Lily’s Lagniappe: This day on the lawn in front of the state capital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana a Chapter of the Blue Star Mothers plant 11,000 flags. It represents all the fallen from Louisiana in Revolutionary War to Afghanistan. Never Forget!!

Still working on PB manuscripts for 12 X 12 and revising THE SEARCH FOR THE PRINCESS. I also have a new idea for NF PB book. Probably will not be able to sell it but it may work as a ebook on Amazon. Oh well, better get back to PB, MG and YA revisions. Read Katherine Applegate’s ONE AND ONLY IVAN, a great read. First book told from a gorilla’s point of view for me. I think she did a great job researching and executing the story told in vignettes. A quick read and kids will love the organization of the book.

Lily’s Lagniappe: Today LSU Softball starts its Super Regional against Arizona. The LSU Baseball team is in the semi finals of the SEC tournament. GEAUX TIGER MEN AND WOMEN!!!

Had a writers meeting yesterday. It was the first meeting in a month, traveling and seminars had prevented our meetings. We try to keep pressure on ourselves by meeting every two weeks. We enjoy the pressure but also the camaraderie which is so important. Having deadlines are very important in life. If you have a job there is a deadline for your attendance, your output and your cooperation.  If your are a stay-at-home mom the demands on your time is immense. If you are the breadwinner of the family the pressure to produce is equally as intense. Why shouldn’t we expect this of our writing output. If you have only 15 minutes a day to devote to your writing then make that 15 minutes the best creation you can make it. A start to a new chapter or just brainstorming can be done in a short 15 minutes. What can you start or produce in fifteen minutes?

Lily’s Lagniappe: The LSU Tigers Baseball team won their first game at the SEC Tournament. They beat Auburn 9-8. The game started off rocky. In the top of the first inning Auburn put up 5 runs. My spirits sank but I knew we had a good team and I only hoped the LSU Tigers could recover. We did and will play again today. The  LSU Softball Tigers play Arizona at Tiger Park on Saturday in a super regional. The winner goes to Oklahoma City for the Softball College World Series. Yesterday it announced that ESPN News was going to cover the game live. GEAUX TIGERS!!

Working on material for writers meeting and on manuscript for 12 X 12 for May. The day has been interesting and unique. Bought a new monitor for my desktop, it’s been without one since the Gateway monitor went to monitor heaven.  I haven’t put into place yet but I will soon. Working on two manuscripts and changing a rhyming manuscript for possible June’s manuscript for 12 X 12. Trying to work ahead since I might be Omaha the majority of the month. Hoping to be in Omaha the majority of the month.

Lily’s Lagniappe: This weekend LSU Softball is in a super regional in Tiger Park. Arizona is coming to town. There will be three games. Must win two. The SEC baseball tournament is in Hoover, Alabama this week. LSU is the number one in the nation. I seriously hope that LSU baseball wins the tournament and has a regional at Alex Box in Baton Rouge and wins that then has a super regional in there also. If we win that I am purchasing tickets for Omaha.

Cutting another picture book in hopes of getting it on the forum also. Got back yesterday from our writing retreat. Three days of writing. Tired when I got home but also invigorated. This is the last full writing day in Gatlinburg. We’re going today to eat lunch at Paula Deen’s restaurant in Pigeon Forge. So the writing will not be all day. We’ve accomplished a lot for each of our set goals for the four days. I’ve posted on 12 X 12  a four part PB. The comments say I’m too wordy. Shocker!! Yes I am cutting words as I write this entry. Need to work on a new picture book for May and see if I can get another one ready for June also. Sure hope LSU makes it to the CWS in Omaha. Lisa and I are ready to go and see the games.

Lily’s Lagniappe: Storms are severe right before hurricane season. Actually there was a hurricane in May which is very early. I hope that is not a indication of an active hurricane season. Stay safe!!

Heading today  to  Gatlinburg, TN for a four day writing retreat. Two of my writer’s group is going also. The only thing in Gatlinburg that we have on our agenda is Paula Deen’s new restaurant in Pigeon Forge, TN.  I plan to sit out by the pool and rework the beginning of  SEARCH FOR THE PRINCESS and try to complete the entire first draft of BASKETBALL BALLERINA. I think Lizzie needs some respect to be a finished product and reworked to a better middle grade novel.

Lily’s Lagniappe: Well LSU softball is the number 5 seed in the NCAA softball playoff and the regional and super regional can be played right there in Tiger Park in Baton Rouge. Here’s hoping that the Tiger girls can get it together and get it done. I’d love to see them in Oklahoma for the Girls Softball World Series. The LSU Baseball team is number one in the nation and swept Missouri yesterday. This weekend is their last weekend of the season. They will travel to Columbus, SC to finish the season. The following week will be the Baseball SEC tournament in Hoover, AL. GEAUX TIGERS!!!

Just finishing changing THE SEARCH FOR THE PRINCESS from third person past to first person present. Must change the beginning of the piece to ground the reader in the online game so it makes sense that Merlin would return for Austin. I believe a mother constantly urging him to get dress for school and stop playing games. He would please her a bit then back to game. I believe if I make the beginning stronger then I might have something pretty good. Then to revise I KNOW WHAT I SAW and THE FREAK’S RAPE and BASKETBALL BALLERINA and also RELUCTANT DEBUTANTE. That’s at least a year of work. My next year is going to be busy. Haven’t heard from publishing company on FLIES IN THE OUTFIELD yet but they still have a month.

Lily’s Lagniappe: LSU’s softball team lost in the conference tournament. Hopefully on Sunday night they get to go to the NCAA softball tournament and that LSU Tiger Park will get a regional. Also LSU Tigers Baseball team plays a second game with Missouri. They won the first game. With a win today they will win the series and a win on Sunday they will sweep Missouri. GEAUX TIGERS!!
